Blog #3

Q: In what ways did Marjane find it difficult to fit back into Iranian society? In what ways did this surprise you (or not surprise you)? A: When Marjane came back to Iran she found it hard to fit back in to the society. This is because she lived in Europe and life was very different and more free. When she came back a bunch of people came to see her (page 258). She found it overwhelming and all of her friends grew up and changed and she chouldnt connect with them. On page 272 she tries to kill her self showing that it was hard for her to go back into the society. I think that because he was exposed to Europe she became more stronge as an individual and this made it difficult to fit back into the society. It wasn't suprzing when she acted different when she came back because she was a different person when she came back to Iran.

#4 OHP Reflection

What advice would you give to future students doing the Oral History Project? For the OHP we my group interviewed Mrs. Chavis. Something I would suggest to students in the future is to always be prepared. During my interview the camera died. Thankfully we had our audio and Sarah's phone. When it died I told Sarah right away and she told a video on her phone. Make sure everything is charged and you have a good quiet environment to interview in. When you are working with your small group be open to doing whatever. Make sure you also try to do an even amount of work. When you are working with he whole class it is also good to being open to doing anything. Being picky with what you have to do doesn't really work because it is a group effort. This was a great project that you can really learn from. One last thing is that you should use a app that can slow down your audio because it is very challenging to transcribe when it is at normal speed.
